UFOs over New Jersey-Third Report-exclusive witness

By SS Collins

Since my last report, not much has changed in the investigation of the identity of the mysterious lights that floated above Carteret New Jersey last month.

Some or maybe even most people in the UFO community seem to have accepted the hoax theory, based solely on two compelling witnesses. The one, of which happens to be ex-military, claims to have seen smoke or dripping plastic through his night vision goggles. The other, a tow truck driver for B&L Towing in Carteret, claims to have seen the light rise up from a neighboring yard.

If one puts aside the vastly disparate descriptions of the lights themselves in their stories, these two make a strong case for a hoax. Still the fact that one claims to have seen smoke through his night-vision glasses from 1800', and the other claims to have seen glow sticks or chemical break lights from a neighborhood yard, has to be treated with as much scrutiny as a debunker might treat other witness testimony.

What compelled me on in the investigation after most had thrown it away, was the scathing honesty of the witnesses I spoke with. Too many people really believed they saw something special. Now I know for the most part people are dolts, subject to mass hallucinations, often mistaking duck bellies for UFOs, and are outright prone to manipulation, but I had to believe them at their word.

After speaking with more and more witnesses, I realized maybe there was something there. When several people told me the lights were "blinking in unison" I thought that was strange. When a group of retail workers exiting work near a local mall told me that, "the other lights came in after the triangle." I was downright confused.

Putting the clues together, I thought immediately about the Phoenix Lights incident of 1997, where after several investigations is still not fully explained. Like Phoenix, there seemed to be a "second" incident. The "flares" that dropped slowly behind the mountains, and the "triangle" that floated over people's houses slow and eerie.

Many people believe that the Phoenix "flares" were the military's way of covering the fact that an alien "triangle" was hovering over the city. While I'm not prepared to go that far, I will admit this case is not so easy to close. Especially after my conversation with a pilot who might be the best witness yet.

While he was willing to tell me what he saw, he was not willing to be identified, nor was he willing to give me exact information that might help me corroborate his story fully. The man does work as a private pilot for a very high profile person, and he does not want to risk his job.

He claims that he was heading north up the Jersey coast in his black turbo helicopter, in front of which we stood as he told the story. He said he was with a friend he could not identify, and just cruising when he noticed a strange reflection off in the distance. He stared hard at it, but it just looked like a "blacker part of the sky or something, like the stars and sky were blacked out and glossy."

He tried to tell if the black object had shape or was in his head, "suddenly one, two, tree..maybe seven lights in all just literally turned on, out of nowhere."

He said the lights were maybe a mile or two off to his north/west side, and were outlining a "tilted triangle, like a banking airliner." He said he wanted to get closer but could not for an undisclosed reason.

He said he stayed about the same distance away the whole time, and at times the lights "changed configuration" and even at one point a bunch just "turned on and started going around the triangle, it was really quite bizarre."

I found this witness to be quite articulate, and seemed to be genuine. I can totally understand his reluctance to be identified, especially since I get the feeling he might not have supposed to have been where he was.

He agreed to talk to me in the future again when the hype dies down. He claims that maybe "I can tell you everything" at another time. So for now I'll just take it for what it is, an interesting witness testimony among the many others in this case.

I am currently perusing the identity of the pilot's "friend" and hope to report on that as soon as I get anything tangible.
