Debate 101

This section will feature compelling arguments from both sides of the coin. You decide who is right. Not us!

The First subject will be the new Mars anomalies that have been recently discovered from the NASA photos released to the public. Some people see these structures as a natural phenomena, others see them as a manufactured system of "tubes" or "pipes".

This debate was between two folks we'll call Dave and Brian. Both provide compelling arguments for their side.

D: "They are not tubes, they are a naturally occurring event. They can and have been found on other riverbeds on Mars, and here on Earth."

B "Just because they resemble something natural, does not mean they are. There is too much nonrandom placement of the ribs and tubes. They follow a more calculating fashion then riverbed soil formations."

D: "Well may not mean they are natural for sure, but certainly you can't expect the riverbeds here on Earth to look identical. Who knows what kind of environment went on to create them?"

B: "They are simply too perfect to be natural. The ribs are laid out geometrically with the geology of the planet, rocks were avoided, elevations were compensated for."

D: "Rivers compensate for rocks and elevation do they not? I would think it just the opposite, an advanced civilization would have the means to blast rock away so they could make the pipes or tubes straight."

B: "Not true at all! Just because mankind has no respect for geology and has gladly blasted it away for years, doesn't mean every civilization would. They could have very well been a race of being who worshiped their planet. Maybe it's on a fault-line and blasting was out of the question."

D: "Not likely, if they were that advanced, they would have likely had other means to irrigate water."

B: "Who said anything about water? They don't have to be for water. Maybe they are an elaborate system of underground transportation, or maybe it houses some kind of communication bandwidth."

D: "Again, if they were so advanced they would have satellite communication."

B: "Who said anything about being so advanced? They didn't have to be spacetravelers to build something like this. We have had similar structures on Earth for years, and we do not have interstellar travel."

D: "Either way there is a suggestion of some advanced form of technology, when this phenomena can happen with no outside interference rather easily. If is far more likely that it was something random and natural, then is is to create this fantasy civilization of any kind."

B: "Maybe so, but it's still a valid argument. It could just as easily be manufactured. It is only because we humans have a hard time looking at it that way, that it is less likely."

D: "Either way, odds are it's just a natural occurrence. Even if the anomaly looks like it could be manufactured. It's more probable that nature did something wacky, and it made us look twice."

B:"How do you explain that they seem to go underground? That shoots the whole riverbed theory down."

D:"You said it, they SEEM to go underground. Optical illusion!"

B:"It's just as likely that it's not."

See for yourself! A new window will open for each.
